Time to stop

Social media has become a part of this generation's life, but what if we stop now ?

Society nowadays leverage on social media and technology to help them in whatever situation they are in. For instance, students use social media for getting ideas and perspectives from other people. It is up to the students to take advantage of the resources given. Taking away endless opportunities for individuals under 18 years old is such a waste of talent and this can probably led to students lacking of information from the world ‘outside’.

I cannot imagine how was the world look like if social media already banned for under 18 years old. 21st century is a generation of using technology, people are using internet for make life easier. Online is the place rich in different type of ideas and knowledge. If government decided take away social media from the people bellow 18 years old, that means the ___ will be ignorant. Social media have the powerful of sending the massage for everyone just using a few second.

There is a report showing more than half of children have used an online social network on the 10 years old. Children are searching the information and knowledge from social media. For examples, when teacher are telling children drawing some animals, internet is a ways for getting getting ideas and let students develop their creative thinking. Books is a good way for present the the produce of produce a product, but using the video surely will children more easier to understand the produce. Children are gaining the experience from the people already have experience before, and this is the good way for teaching children how to distinguish good from evil. Let us imagine about the children and teenager did not touch the social media before, they will curios for everything and cannot parting which is good and bad.

In terms of education, social media can make the things more reality than the books. The standard of education system of children and teenagers is going down. In today society, government is develop to the E- Learning. Teacher is using social media information for teaching students with using the smart board and some electronic equipment. Children is always sensitive through the moving thing, so using the video for improving the visual aids can let children remember the knowledge than using books and a few photos. For teenagers, they have to facing through the SPM- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia. Students always using social media for sending the document, so they can sharing the most new information of exam. Social media can sending a news or message for the whole world in a few second. The students will build up their own class group for using discuss the question paper. Social media can let students using for contact or get the responses from their teacher immediately. This is the powerful of Social media.

Furthermore, social media enhances the teacher’s methods of teaching their students. The teaching happening in class is only that much and beyond that there are still many knowledge that is still that is not known to the students. Technology nowadays is fantastic where teachers and students can communication online without any issues. Homework and assignments can be set online and handed online which also saves the amount of paper wasted. Documents and notes can be easily shared through Facebook and many more. Apart from that, students and teachers both benefit by this where they can have group discussions in a closed group wherever they are.

Social media applications such as Linked In can further help the student in self marketing. In reality to this era, having good grades in school does not promise a good career. Over and above that, employees are currently looking for individuals who are above the majority and have something special that makes them stand out. Having students developing and expressing their individual identity can further benefit them in networking with individuals in a specific industry. Networking with industry leaders from a young age can enhance the foundation of chances of having a good career in the long run.

With social media, individuals under the age of 18 can connect with groups of people from all over the world. Hence improves the connections of the students and at the same time restricts the chance of the students of having a close mind. More exposure to different cultures and personalities improves the student’s scope and further improves the state of mind of the student. ‘Pen pals’ is very common for students to connect with other students all over the world. The main method of connecting with a ‘pen pal’ is through social media and if this is banned, we are restricting the student in terms of getting knowledge from the outside.

Famous young singer from America, Grace Vanderwall was made known through YouTube when she started singing covers of famous top selling songs. She caught the attention of the fellow Americans as well as the rest of the world at only the age of eleven. This was made possible due to the power of social media to share self-expression such as art work and in Grace Vanderwall’s case, music. This would not be possible if social media was banned and the amazing talent of Vanderwall was wasted.
